It's HOT!

Imagine the bees working under the hot sun.

Could it be the heat? It's been announced that a wild deer is wandering within the neighbourhood!

It's Sun!

.
Guess what. 13th August was an exceptionally good day, I couldn't stop smiling.

My noisy siblings had time for me. I've acquired several steal-deals with shopping. Downed some most delicious eats at my favourite restaurants, and...

I caught Stephanie Sun in person, live! Stephanie who? Sun, that most sucessful Singaporean artiste to date!

This is home, truly. Even Stephanie could be seen having local nasi! ( 'rice' in Malay ) Our eyes met. And the closest we've got was like a meter away!

Her frame is smaller than I would have guessed. She blended into the foodcourt like any other Singaporean girl. I was tempted to have a picture with her, oh but; let her eat. Guess any other who have stayed abroad would let her have her plate in peace.

.

Good luck Sun. Shine!

NDP afterthoughts

Lil Bro D turned 20 yesterday, on Singapore's 45th National Day. =)

Everyone at home would talk about his 1 yo birthday episode : We were watching the national day parade on tv and there he panicked in his baby wheelers and cried, for he mistook the parade commander on screen 'screaming' at him. 19 years later, I'm so proud of the baby who shed the wheelers and commanded one of the military tanks at the parade square, and salute the President of Singapore.

Time flies.

Sis and I chased the tanks down the streets, with heavy equipment, in the hot sun, thru all that ardent crowd. She with her bad foot and me with an ebbing stamina ran so hard anyway until her poor feet suffered cuts. But it's been ages since we've done something together - so focused and one-minded; like how we used to make giant burgers with pillows. We were bolder monsters then.

Time doesn't take affections away.

I've never liked the hair-raising national day songs during school days, we sang because the teachers wanted us to. Who knows the songs have turned heart-gripping with years, especially since I've moved away. Near the parade square where Kit Chan sang 'Home', sis and I were listening as we sat side by side like little children... As memories flooded back tears just filled my eyes. I've finally heard the national day songs, with my heart for the first time.

Things get knowing with time.

This is home truly, where my heart will always be. And I'm so glad I'm back.

And I'll be proud of my heritage a lifetime. Majulah Singapura.

The peaches are travelling

.
These days may be roasting at 35 degrees celcius or so, but the body is cleverly adjusting! =D In fact, we're enjoying Summer's treats like gelatos and delicious fruits.

Summer would mean that fridgey will smell like mouth-watering white peaches ( 白桃 ). Japan's white peaches are nothing I've come across in my earlier living years.

First, the trees are really pretty in Spring.

Then, the fruit looks sexy and tastes wicked good in Summer!

I love sinking teeth into the tenderly soft flesh that sends a honeyed waterfall down my cheeks and throat. But it's a little blue everytime having them - I so hope to bring peaches home for dad someday! He'll love em.

Guess what? The peaches A.R.E. going home this year. I'm travelling in 2 days!! Yay!!

And I get to use Piggy's handmade pouch this trip, how timely! ;)

As for Bear, he'll be one baking cookie in Japan. =P
Ohh he'll be fine, summer nights are cool!

Handmade by Piggy

.

I
ought to have blogged this way back earlier, but the busyness and heat got the better of me. (~~)

Know Piggy - She cooks, bakes, travels, snaps, snacks, sews, crochets, and the list rolls on. Really, is there anything I know she's not good at! I adore her motivation, that constant strive on perfection, and humility to share. Besides being blessed with a private consultant on all things kitchen and earthly, I'm thankful for her listening and encouraging presence, always just a mail away. =)

And a mail from Piggy came weeks ago. Look what she's made me with her creative hands!

Coasters, with very neat stitches.

Pouch good for travelling. I love the details and materials used!

And us. With pink cheeks!

Yup, little do most know, while ' Bear ' is hubby-honey, I'm his ' Bunny '. It's a zoo at home.

Thank you Piggy for the special gifts, they're just precious! We'll be up on the Christmas tree this year! ;)

Cute bites

.
I
miss Singapore's local treat, all the time.

I remember longing for local grub badly, especially the earlier years in Japan. When I finally got sick of Japan's eats, I began seeking solace in McDonald's. Simply put, it tastes exactly what I had in Singapore. McDonald's turns out passable for a comfort food, the fast way.

The only difference? Here, Mcdonald's is read 'mar-ku-do-na-ru-do', or 'mar-ku' in short.

Anyway, when the replica of my soulmate soul-food showed up, I snagged it fast by complying the standard meal + large fries and drink purchase. Mc's sure knows how to sell.

Check out their actual size. >.<

I am one
in the land of world-known exquisite gastronomy. How bizarre.
